4 Steps 2 Salvation

1. In the book of Acts , we have an account of a person asking specifically what he needed to do to be saved.

Acts 16:30-31 "He brought them out and asked, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved? They replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved."

Therefore, the first step to salvation is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior.

2. As a result of the crowd's question in Acts 2:37, Peter replied in verse 38, "Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Therefore, the second step is to repent of your sins. To repent means to be sorry for your sins and to decide to live defferently.
3. The third step in the salvation process is baptism.

Mark 16:16 "He that believes and is baptized shall be saved."

The scriptures are very clear that believing and repentance are not enough, but they must be coupled with baptism to be complete.

4. The final step of salvation is recieving God's spirit.

(Refer to Acts 2:38 in Step 2.)
Acts 19:1-6 "There he found some disciples and asked them, 'Did you recieve the Holy Spirit when you believed?'  They answered, 'No, So Paul asked, 'Then what baptism did you recieve?' ' John's baptism, ' they replied.  Paul said, 'John's baptism was a baptism of repentance.  He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.'  On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.  When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came and they spoke in tongues."Here we have clear biblical evidence that once you have believed, repented, and been baptized, you will recieve the Holy Spirit with the evedence of that being you will speak in a language you neither know nor have learned.

Oh, by the way, would you like to know what happened to the man in Acts 16 from the beginning of our lesson?  Verse 30 of Acts 16 says that "immediately he and all his family were baptized!"
